Building Our Future Together.
I am a life-long learner who believes that education is the foundation upon which we build our future. Education is not one size fits all and I am committed to do my very best to support all of our children, parents, educators and community.
I believe that the most important example we can set for our children is for them to watch us work together. COVID-19 has changed our lives and our schools. As a community we know that putting our children back in the classroom safely is critical to their education, development and socio-emotional health. I believe through collaboration and forward thinking we can continue our legacy of excellence in the face of our current challenges.
Why am I running?
I am running for school board, because I am committed to supporting our students and their future. It is imperative that we not only teach them to be great students; finding the passions that will lead them to life-long careers, but we also need to guide them and encourage them to become more than just upstanding citizens. We need to inspire them to be outstanding citizens in our beautiful community. I am dedicated to working to provide opportunities, so that every student can add value to their school and community.
I believe it’s also important to focus on all of our students. We are a very academically-driven district, which really helps our students as they pursue higher education. The question is are we providing the same opportunities to those students who might be gifted in areas outside the path to higher education? Are we setting them up to be successful? It is imperative we ensure a well-rounded learning environment, so that all children at CUSD feel empowered to be the very best that they can.
Why do I volunteer?
I volunteer, because I see it as my calling. Working with young people, learning about what gets them excited, seeing the sparkle fill their eyes; that is why I volunteer. I want to help shape the future to help students find what they feel they are called to do. I volunteer, because I love the relationships, the friendships, and the hard work. I love putting my heart into something that can make a difference for our children and our community; and watching it blossom into something beautiful. I also do it as a way to give back. Growing up, I had mentors and teachers that gave their time and energy to me. They did this to better my future and I think we all need to put in the time and effort to see a future for our children that would make us proud.
